E-commerce presence.

I was asked by The Sewing Hut to design an e-commerce website for their non-shop sales. The Covid Pandemic (2020) had caused The Sewing Hut to bring forward their plans to develop a website. Their Facebook presence, whilst colourful, was certainly not the ideal platform for selling their “makes” and to keep control of current stock levels. There was also a requirement to offer “made to order”, with designs  customisable from fabric choice to fastener types.

About The Sewing Hut

The Sewing Hut makes children’s clothes and accessories from newborn to 12 years. Their aim is to provide clothing that is comfortable, fun, full of colour, functional and practical and is an attractive alternative to the sometime samey and bland offerings of the High Street, but still very much affordable.

The Web Shop

The requirement was for a simple looking, but fully functional web shop. This was a job for the industry standard WordPress, with the WordPress plug-in WooCommerce to power the shopping experience. WooCommerce also has the added bonus of being capable of managing stock levels and has a PayPal payment gateway built right in. Various other complementary plugins were used for the material swatches for “Made to Order” products and also for the multi-buy discounts. Also involved was an amount of  customisation to ensure that the site looked good on mobile (mobile-first) devices and also on desktops/laptops etc.
